Counsellor and Coach in Bristol

MBACP DipHIC Registered Member BACP No: 407194

A very warm welcome! My name is Anna, an experienced and dedicated therapist helping people from all walks of life feel better about themselves. I work with adults and young people (16 +) and am both neurodiversity-affirming and home education-friendly.

If you've found your way here you're probably struggling with something that is beginning to feel overwhelming. You may have tried talking to friends and family or perhaps you've been attempting to cope on your own for some time now. Either way, nothing is really working. My job is to help you make sense of what's going on for you and find a deeper sense of calm.

  • Do you feel lost, stuck, unfulfilled, low or sad?
  • Maybe anxious, stressed, irritable and in overdrive?
  • Perhaps unsure and fearful of how to make changes or where to even start?
  • Are you looking for clarity, confidence and a way forward?
  • Would you like to have a better relationship with yourself and those around you?
  • Maybe you simply want to get to know yourself better?

I hear you - we all go through ups and downs - at times really hard stuff happens. This can interfere with our ability to function properly, our mood, sleep patterns, relationships and more.  No matter how uncomfortable or upsetting your issues might be, I am here to offer you a non-judgemental, private and professional space where I will listen, really listen to you - something that is often in short supply in the world we live in.

I warmly invite you to get in touch for a free phone call to talk through what's going on for you and how counselling and coaching can help. I work both in person and online.

First Steps...

If you're looking for therapy right now, this indicates that you have already taken that first step towards healing, growth and change - This is great news. Reaching out for help and support can feel really hard - I remember how confused, anxious and fearful I felt when choosing and contacting a therapist for the first time. How uncomfortable the thought of talking to a stranger about deeply personal aspects of my life felt.

Some things I often hear from clients:

'I don't really know why I'm here, others have it much worse than me',

'I'm so messed up I don't think anyone can help me',

'I should probably just get on with it and stop complaining!'

Take note, there is no minimum or maximum amount of suffering required to seek out therapy. We have all been hurt, we've all behaved in ways we wish we hadn't, we all have our own particular quirks and hang-ups. Getting help to understand who you are and why you function as you do, regardless of the circumstances, is a positive thing. I believe therapy is a fantastic investment in self, one that will help you step into a life that feels more harmonious and fulfilling.

What I can help you with

I have worked with clients presenting with a wide range of issues such as: anxiety, depression, workplace related tensions, family conflict, parenting, bereavement, addiction, difficult childhood experiences, neurodiversity, health anxiety and self-identity. I have a particular interest in working with women struggling with fertility issues, pregnancy loss, post natal depression, transitioning into parenthood, parenting, peri-menopause and juggling the many pressures of life. As a counsellor I can work with you to explore, express and heal your emotional distress. As a coach I will support you in overcoming mental obstacles, take action and achieve your goals. If your issue isn't on this list it doesn't mean I can't help you. Please get in touch to talk some more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do sessions cost?

£55

How long is each session?

50-60 mins per session (depending on location).

How long will counselling or coaching take?

I offer both short and long term work.

Every client's situation and circumstances are different, so the duration of our work together is entirely your choice.

How often are sessions?

For the most rapid progress, it is usual to have weekly counselling sessions. Some people start off weekly but then switch to fortnightly when they feel they're in a better place. Coaching sessions can be booked less frequently. This is something we can discuss during either our initial phone call or discovery session.

How will I know if therapy is helping/working?

Therapy is a journey of self-discovery. Becoming more self-aware opens up the potential for change that you already hold within yourself. My role is to support you by providing the right environment and tools to help you along the way. Part of this process is to have regular reviews to see what is working and what might not be. We can discuss different approaches and take the opportunity to notice progress.

What sort of things do you help with?

People come to me with a wide variety of issues that are bothering them. If you don't see yours on these pages it doesn't mean I can't help! Get in touch and we can have a chat about how we might work together.

Do I have to have an initial phone call?

I understand that some people just don't feel comfortable talking on the phone. If this is the case you can contact me via text or email and we can book in a free 30 min in person session (available in Nailsea location only).
